The 101 hostel is one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. The owners are an incredibly friendly family and were super helpful. I'm traveling with a friend and as soon as we arrived we were welcomed as part of their family. We asked for suggestions of things around the city and they had a plethora of ideas for us. ||The actual hostel itself is very cozy. It feels like a home, rather than just a place to stay. Everything is very clean, beds are comfortable, and kitchen is quite sufficient. It's location couldn't be better. Steps from the center of the main shopping and dining streets. They also have a lovely little back garden area that we managed to see the Northern Lights from!||All the other guests we've met have been friendly, and when local, very helpful. Overall I couldn't be happier with my time here.

The location of this hostel is central and easy to find/get to. Run by 3 siblings who are very warm and welcoming. Even though there are quite many beds given the size of the house, it is managed very well that it is quiet after 23:00. Also the place is spotless clean. Comfy beds with clean linen. Very nice and well equipped communal kitchen. I was at first concerned that there are only three shower/toilet rooms but then I never had to wait for my turn.|Drawbacks: do not store luggage in case of early arrival/late departure. No laundry facilities.

Located in downtown Reykjavik, this little hostel still offers you a quiet environment for your stay. The owners are nice and friendly and also very caring about you. They offer you a bed in a small, clean building, which definitely is the best value for money you can get. I very much recommend you staying a few nights there!

The place is a very small familyrun hostel right in the city centre of Reykjavik. Kitchen is not huge but well equiped and they have a lovely garden to sit in. Room and facilities were clean and in good shape. Only downside is that the room I stayed in was very small for the amount of beds. Hard to fit the luggage of every person. And the mattress was worn down and very thin. The owners were super friendly and helpful. Extra tip: bring your own towel (which I don't mind as I usually have one with me)

Hostel is very small. And rooms are very bright and muggy in the evening. It was one of the cheaper options so I guess you get what you pay for, but there are no common areas so people tend to hang out and be loud in the sleeping area. Also no hreakfast. Wouldn't stay again, and I am a budget traveler.

This is one of the friendliest places I've ever stayed. The owners work hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome and give some excellent travel advice for exploring Iceland. Because of this wonderfully welcoming atmosphere making friends and getting to know people. I'd recommended this hostel to anyone. It is spotlessly clean, accessible, and in a great location.

Pros: - Excellent location- right on the main street (Laugavegur) across from the Bonus supermarket - Clean - Easy check-in process ||||Cons: - Strict house rules- including: quiet hours start at 11pm, no visitors allowed - Limited common areas, so it's difficult to meet people - Limited number of bathrooms - The owners of the guesthouse will check-in frequently to see if any of the house rules are violated including unauthorized guests||||Had I known about all of the excessive rules then I wouldn't have stayed here. The upside was that I was only there for 3 nights and I was out and about most of the time I was there. Also, the only common area is a tiny kitchen, which can accommodate up to about 6-7 people. When I arrived, there wasn't anyone to check me in, and I had to ask another guest for the wifi password.

In Iceland for a week during the summer solstice. Amazing experience. Reykjavik was just stunning, I loved it but be prepared for high cost of food, drinks, meals and excursions ... very expensive. On the plus side I stayed in the 101 hostel ridiculously cheaply which balanced it out. Location was unbeatable. Small but perfectly formed and as other guests said the kitchen was a laugh on an evening. Tip ... Save yourself a fortune and shop at supermarkets. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Would book again in a heartbeat.
