English below:

We did not like our stay here in late August. We arrived and received our room which was tidied up, but the bed looked like it had been slept in. So we looked at the pillows and found lots of hairs on one side of the bed. Very disgusting.
So we complained via phone because there is no one on site and received a new room after some back and forth. That room was cleaner but still had black hairs in the bed linen as well. The staff claimed it was due to the dryer not functioning correctly...
We just slept the night, but I have never ever had an experience like this in a hotel of this standard.

The good things: It is very nicely located, the look of the room is very modern and nice. The staff were very friendly despite this issue.

A lot of the reviews here will complain about the noise and lack of front desk. These are legit, but I do want to give my two cents on the matter.

Noise is a bit loud at night, but karaoke at the bar ends at 11 PM. Afterwards it is just the sound of the passerby next to the street. The hotel provides ear plugs, and with those I was able to sleep without any major issues. If you are an extremely light sleeper, I would not recommend this hotel. If you are normalized to the everyday sounds of the night, then this should be fine.

Lack of front desk could be at times, frustrating, but the response time via email and the phone at the front were fast. Whenever I needed something such as shampoo or a new code for the front door, they were fast to get me what I needed. I know some people had issues with the front door, but once I got my code I had no issues.

Overall, the location of the hotel is its main draw. Everything is super close, and bus stop #6 cultural museum, can be used for most bus tours and arrivals. Would keep this in mind if you want a cheaper place to stay.

Location is very central. But this is pretty much where it ends. Self check in hotel without any service staff is just bad as there is no support at all. Unlike others, we do not have any issue accessing the front door and the room. But the code didn’t work for the luggage storage as we needed more amenities. Room is extremely noisy. At 9pm, the music is blasting from the restaurant on the ground. To make matter worse, our room is right in front of the stairs so noise travel up through the stairwell. Sign in the room says ear plugs provided but they are no where to be found. Emailed hotel and no response. In summer with mid night sun, the curtain only cover half of the window. This is mind boggling to say the least. Totally weird. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. One more thing, wifi is weak.

Convenient or not, it is impossible to get proper rest here.

Мы остановились на одну ночь, отличный современный отель, чистый и удобная кровать, есть кофе машина. Нам повезло мы были на 4 этаже и музыку вообще не слышали. Местоположение шикарное в самом центре!

I recently stayed at Midtown Hotel in Iceland on a couple’s trip, and we had a fantastic experience. The hotel is incredibly well-located, right in the city center, within walking distance of many major attractions. Whether you want to explore iconic landmarks, visit museums, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere of Reykjavik, everything is just a short stroll away. Additionally, the main bus station is about a 20-minute walk, making it convenient for airport transfers and excursions. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby, so finding a good meal was never an issue.
One thing to note is that the hotel operates with a fully automated check-in system, which was very smooth and efficient. We received all the necessary instructions beforehand, and accessing our room was hassle-free. However, there is no reception, so if you prefer having staff available for questions or recommendations, this could be a downside. Personally, it wasn’t an issue for me, as everything was well-organized, and we didn’t run into any problems.
Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable—perfect for a relaxing stay after long days of exploring. The amenities were great, and everything was well-maintained. Despite being in a central location, the hotel was quiet, ensuring a good night’s sleep.
Overall, I highly recommend Midtown Hotel for travelers looking for a convenient, comfortable, and well-located place to stay in Reykjavik. It was an excellent choice for our trip, and I would definitely stay here again!

The good:
Nice rooms, clean and spacious. Very central.

The not so good:
However, my room was directly above a nightclub blasting. The is no noise isolation made the room impossible to sleep.

The reception gave me a late check out to make up for sleepless night at least.

Also, they double booked the room, I had another guest trying to get in as he also booked it (he showed me his reservation).

Finally, the hotel changed the code when I was still a guest locking me out of the property.

Overall, nice clean and well located but too much noise and hassle.

The room was not cleaned by the designated check in time. We arrived at 3 pm and the room was a wreck, towels of floor, and trash everywhere. We then called the management company and the person I spoke to could not have been any more dismissive of the situation saying someone would be by to clean it sometime later. There was not discount offered or any other accommodation for the uncleanliness and unprofessionalism of the hotel. Super 8 motels have more courtesy than this place.

This should not be called a hotel. Sorry for long review, but if it helps people stop coming then it's worth it. Short version- just don't.

Worst "hotel" experience I have had in several years. I am in sales and stay 50-60 nights a years in hotels. So this is the worst of at least 300 stays across 50 different hotels.

Location is average at best due to long walk to bus stop. Communication with customer support is terrible. Room is terrible.

Arrived early after cruise hoping to leave luggage to be able to see Reykjavik unencumbered, but my code did not work. Called customer service and I kept getting disconnected. Sent email and did not get a response. After waiting 7 hours until 2pm which is the advertised check in time on google, I called again no answer. Finally my wife got a hold of someone around 3:20pm. 8 hours later. We did find a luggage storage place 3 blocks away that cost us roughly 55 dollars that was supposed to be included in the rooms booking.

The lady on the phone was kind but didn't help us beyond getting us a door code which this one did work. But, she told us that our room wasn't ready yet and could not give us a time frame for when it would be ready.

Once again, I know this is a long review, but please keep in mind I am drafting this while l wait for my room to be cleaned. It is 4:30 now and there are 3 out of 6 rooms on my floor still dirty. There are other customers here complaining about the same issues. I went back and read the comments and am disappointed that this is on anyone's recommended list.

Edit: half the rooms lightbulbs are burnt out, there is damage to the furniture... this is a low quality motel 6 marketed as some streamlined 4 star hotel. This is not the case at all.
