The kitchen is nice and well stocked and the rooms are spacious and well maintained. However, the showers were often freezing and the breakfast (if you want to pay) was quite expensive at $20.

The location is very good -- right next to Skogafoss and an easy drive as far as Diamond Beach

Rooms were clean and there is a kitchen available. However, there was no hot water most of the time (we took many cold showers). Also the rooms lock/unlock with a combination that makes a rather loud noise, which is somewhat annoying as you can hear it from inside the room throughout the night

We initially wanted to stay at Vik but there was nothing available. Ended up booking two rooms in this hostel as it was the only place we could book. I had pretty low expectations but was content with the facility. Very clean and quiet rooms. The restrooms were also clean and well maintained. Big and well equipped kitchen with a coffee machine.
We had a good stay here.
The only and biggest issue is the lack of hot water in the morning when everyone needed to shower, so we had to have icy showers.

It was not a bad stay for one or two nights, if I had paid about $50-100 less I would have no complaints. I went through booking.com and never received a check in email, this was not caught until I called for information upon arriving to a locked building. However, the person over the phone was able to help me quickly figure out where to go to receive my room key from the front desk. The room was clean and included a small sink which I appreciated. The lamp, however, was broken and the curtains were too small to cover the window letting a lot of light in. Luckily, I always travel with an eye mask. The shower also seemed slightly broken (water sprayed from sides of the hose) and did not really get warm. Breakfast was included and I thought it was a nice spread. I also liked that there was tea and coffee available at any time. The location is the best part of this hostel, as it is only a 15 minute walk from Skogafoss! The building I stayed in used to be a highschool, and I enjoyed reading more about the history displayed at the reception area. Overall, I would stay here again if I could get a lower price. I visited during the busy month of June, so I imagine it is a bit cheaper during other months.

Hostel tipo albergue.
Habitación doble con calefacción, lavabo de manos, armario y cortinas en la ventana. Ni grande, ni pequeña. Camas cómodas.
Water y duchas compartidas. Toallas.
Cocina espaciosa con todo lo necesario para cocinar y comer. Comedor comunitario. Muy limpio todo.
Ubicación excelente, a 20 minutos a pie de la cascada.
Pocos baños y duchas para el número de huespedes.
Sin personal, se accede mediante código que te mandan previamente al correo. Ideal para pasar una noche.

It was just as I expected for a hostel. Our first room's outlets didn't work, so we had to change to a second one. The receptionist mentioned that they've had issues with that room (8), so perhaps don't assign it to guests until such problems are resolved. WCs are clean. I never had to wait for a shower, or toilet. The breakfast was your basic continental buffet. It is approximately 15 minutes' walk to Skógafoss.

Chambre d'une taille minuscule, 3 douches et 2 toilettes (à peu près propres) pour un étage d'une dizaine de chambres, pas de personnel et incapable quand nous avons eu besoin de lui. Seuls points positifs : l'emplacement et la cuisine relativement bien équipée. A fuir !
