It's an old Posthouse, standing alone. Approximately 8 minutes by car out of town.
Its was nice to stay in a older and traditional building, for us it was charming. But some people might feel it offers not the same convenience they are used to, so the experience is always also depending on the Character of the Guest.?

For example, the shower on the upper floor is a little small, but there is one.
And Breakfast is ready on a table to self-service.
It was a good experience for us, cause it fit us well

A beautiful 19th-century farmhouse that had been converted into a comfy guesthouse. The food is self-service but the host left a well-stocked refrigerator as well as everything needed to cook a tasty breakfast with. The guesthouse us situated in a beautiful natural setting so if you have time, go out and explore a bit. If you decide you want a meal out, there's a town just within 10 minutes with a number of dining options.

Very noisy. You can hear the neighbor snore through the wall. Charming renovated and friendly service. More information how to contact would be nice, like written outside, since there’s often nobody physically there.
Biggest problem are the midges, black flies, which bite and appear in enormous numbers. I’ve been to Sweden, but never in my life I got bitten so badly. Just a few hours sleep were possible. If you book, bring plenty of mosquito-repellent or mosquito-nets!

Definitely the most beautiful Airbnb I've ever stayed in!
Supposedly it's an old postman house, converted to a great great guesthouse.
The location is just outside of Borgarnes and easy to find.
The host has thought of everything and furnished it lovingly and comfortably.
It was that great that we had to stay one more night a couple days later 😉
(...and pretty sure not for the last time)

The house is quaint, clean and charming. Your room key is left with your name on it at the front door. There was no one to greet us. It wasn't a problem. Common areas, such as a fully equipped kitchen and a living area, are shared with other occupants of the home.We stayed one night in September in a downstairs bedroom with private bath. Plenty of hot water for each of us. The room was small, but clean, and the bed was comfortable. The price point was reasonable. Help yourself breakfast is left for the morning - breads, some fruit, cereal, yogurt. Coffee and tea are available to make anytime. We were traveling from the Snaefellsness Peninsula after a long day of sightseeing and this was very convenient for the next leg of our journey. Easy to find. I found it in the dark because I google drove the road prior to the trip and knew the vicinity of where to turn. I would stay again.

Not an average guesthouse. The house is old and although rebuild and well furnished, it boasts very romantic retro/country feel everywhere. Our room was very spacious! Beware of very steep stairs if you get a room on the second floor! Breakfast is plain, all food is available in grocery stores.

Good Lord...what a heavenly place. It has been my pleasure to rent this property on three occasions as well as for a hiking trip I arranged for a group of extremely discerning female hikers. Lambalaekur is sprinkled with fairy dust or perhaps it is so because of Anna and Hjorleifur who make this property so utterly charming. The house has been lovingly and accurately restored. It has great history and its owners will happily share it with you. Upon our arrival a huge pot of meat soup and homemade bread awaited us. A typical Icelandic breakfast was left in the fridge for us. We felt like locals! Having the entire house to ourselves was just terrific...making the experience feel like home. The beds were comfy, the atmosphere cozy, with a capital "C" with oodles of hot water and plenty of heat. The upstairs rooms are reached by a very steep staircase, typical for properties of this period and may not be appropriate for elderly but the bedrooms downstairs are perfect for these folks. Your hosts are kind and attentive and wonderfully helpful. The area surrounding the house is fully of hiking opportunities...berry picking...utterly breathtaking scenery in an area of Iceland still relatively unexplored by the horrific tourist boom. I am a frequent traveler to Iceland (40 trips as of this writing) for private trips but also for my own small travel company. The very idea of not staying at Lambabaekur or its beautiful sister hotel, Ensku husin is simply not an option. It is my humble opinion that the owners run two of Iceland's greatest properties...not for travelers who want a Marriot experience but for those who want to feel the beating heart of this magical country. I cannot reiterate how much I adore this property.

This is a restored old country farm house. The owners’ family purchased and restored under the preservation guidelines with period details. It is very unique and charming. We stayed in Feb. 2017 in a room on the second floor for three people with a shared bathroom (no sink in the bedroom.) We had the Red Room (this is how they identify rooms) at the top of the stairs. The beds were comfortable and we each had a very cozy down comforter. ||||Things to note: if you are staying on the second floor the stairs are very steep, kind of like stairs on a boat. If you have heavy luggage it is not easy to get your bags up the stairs. The owners of this guesthouse own another property within about a 2 minute drive and you have to pick the key up at the other guesthouse (by the River Langa which is not easy to find at night, but we did; and you will too.)|| ||There is a fully stocked self-serve breakfast. You can make coffee, tea, hot cocoa. There is an assortment of breakfast foods including cereal, yogurt, breads to make toast, jams, butter, eggs, cheese, fruits, and cookies. You can make and eat any of this at any time. Also as in most guesthouses in Iceland, you should take off your shoes. There are many comfortable slippers at the front door. In addition there are also several Icelandic wool sweaters for guest to use during their stay. See our photos. We really loved this place. We had our cameras set up and took our best pictures of the Northern Lights here.
