Kríukot Gistiheimili, Hafnarbraut 17, Hólmavík Iceland.||Fallegt útsýni yfir Steingrímsfjörð.||Mikið fuglalíf við fjörðinn ásamt hvölum sem sjá má út um glugga gististaðinn á sumrin og rétt fyrir utan staðin má sjá seli.

Dilapidated guesthouse in Holmavik. Upon arriving we were told that 3 rooms all had to share 1 bathroom/shower. This has been the norm for us, except that there are no sinks in the bedrooms and the toilet and shower are in the same room…so 6 adults sharing 1 toilet in the morning is too much.
Also, the shower didn’t drain, so the person who used it before flooded the whole bathroom floor.
There are no controls for the heat in the rooms, which meant that our room was roasting hot with only a tiny window to cool it down. We asked the owner to turn the heat down, she said her husband would do it later, either way we sweated in our sleep all night, even with the tiny window open and the light from the street pouring in.
I would not recommend this place and we would not stay here again.

Clean and comfortable place, though indeed slightly run down, like the other reviewers say. It‘s spacious compared to other guest houses, and I can‘t say it lacks anything specific. It‘s just not really a love place in a love location, but from a practical view there is nothing missing. And the land-lady is very friendly and helpful. There is even an espresso machine and a washing machine. In off-season and with all above being said, I have the vague impression it was slightly expensive. But then again… hey, it‘s Iceland…

Although we drove past it twice because there is nothing to idicate that it is a guest house, our stay was pleasant. We had the entire lower floor apartment (kitchen, sitting room, bathroom) to ourselves. The bed was delightful-- a real king bed! It felt more like I was house sitting at afriends' place. Our host greeted us and was available on site if w needed anything.

Excellent house, excellent location, lovely people. We were lucky enough to be the only ones staying there when we arrived. The room was very nice, the common spaces ( kitchen, bathroom, loving room) very clean and extremely well equipped. There were some cereal for breakfast too
The people there are lovely and even with the language barrier we felt very welcome
They also have a lovely dog living with them in their house ( upper floor- not in the rented areas).
The village is beautiful and definitely worth a stroll. Make sure to visit the Sorcery and Witchcraft museum!

3-Sterne-Hotel? ||||Die Ferienwohnung ist eine absolute Enttäuschung. Wir sind schon seit 10 Tagen in Island unterwegs und noch immer hier, doch nirgends haben wir so eine schlechte Erfahrung gemacht wie hier.||||1. wir sind um ca. 23 Uhr angekommen, die Haustür war offen, niemand da. Nach mehrmaligem Anläuten kam die Besitzerin, die im 2. Stock wohnt, runter.||||2. Im Erdgeschoss vermietet sie 3 Zimmer mit GEMEINSCHAFTSBAD. Die Küche und das Bad sind katastrophal.. Hygienestandards 0...dass mit Gemeinschaftsbad haben wir beim Buchen wohl übersehen. Dennoch wars für 145€ / Nacht eine Frechheit. Wenn andere Leute nachts ins Bad od in die Küche wollen, kriegt man alles mit, dementsprechend laut. ||||3. Das FENSTER (das Hauptproblem) kann man nicht öffnen, es gibt keine Fensterklinke. Wir waren im Sept, somit war die Heizung automatisch an ..man konnte die Heizung nicht abdrehen..somit sehr stickig und heiß im Zimmer.||||Tipp: Buchts generell kein Hotel in Holmavik, keine interessante Stadt und recht heruntergekommen. Ich würde eher Akureyri, Husavik od Isafjördur empfehlen. ||Außer Whale Watching...sehr günstig in Holmavik.

I am writing this review, in spite of not being able to stay at this attractive property. I had made a non refundable booking for 2 rooms here through Booking.com, but had to cancel for personal reasons. The host very kindly waived my cancellation fees and approved the full refund. I hope to stay someday at this highly rated property. Thankyou Rofn! This will serve as a very nice memory of Iceland and its people for us

Convenient location.
Outdated and slightly run down building.
Well stocked kitchen.
There is only one bathroom for entire guest house, so if the entire house is full of guests it may not be very convenient.
