What do you do when you're travelling by bike in Iceland and the forecast for the next day is really heavy rain? You look for somewhere to stay and take a rest day.

We didn't expect to find such a nice refuge in Raufarhöfn. OK, the building isn't particularly inviting from the outside, but as soon as you set foot inside, you're in a home far from home.

Thanks to the owners of this surprisingly beautiful place, you'll find everything your heart desires: a cosy bed, a well-equipped kitchen - but above all friendliness, helpfulness and hospitality.

Se dall' esterno appare un po' vetusto, l'interno è molto pulito, caldo e accogliente. Siamo stati accolti con tanta gentilezza. Abbiamo potuto godere dell' intero piano riservato a noi visto che eravamo gli unici ospiti della struttura. Cucina attrezzata, grande soggiorno, bel bagno.

A cidade conta com poucas opções de hotel, o hotel é pequeno, e não conta com banheiros no quarto, tem uma equipe muito amigável, não tem café da manhã, mas conta com uma pequena cozinha que podemos usar para preparar o nosso café e pequenas refeiçoes, conta também com um espaço comum onde podemos sentar e relaxar (como os quartos eram pequenos ficamos muito neste espaço em comum). Apesar de antigo, tudo era muito limpo, incluindo os banheiros e a cozinha bem equipada. Ficar ali em uma das cidades mais ao norte da Islândia foi uma experiência muito interessante, quase não vemos pessoas pela cidade durante o dia. Caso você vá, lembre se de levar alguma coisa para preparar, pois os restaurantes costumam fechar pela noite. Recomendo a visita!

Great stay last night. Hassle-free late self check in. Friendly service during check out. Spotless clean room, bathroom (shared), and common areas. Well-equipped shared kitchen. Perfect location to visit Arctic Henge (saw the Northern Lights there, and from the room's big window). Personally, found the price a bit high, considering amenities are shared and breakfast wasn't included, but really have no complaints.

Clean! Friendly! Well equipped!
I arrived very early in the year and nothing else in town was open (supermarket, restaurant, etc). They called the other hotel for me & they happened to have some burgers, so I was able to eat dinner that night. Would recommend. You won’t be disappointed.
