Everything worked out perfectly, and the clothes came out dry with a good smell. One load of washing and drying costs 2800 ISK, which is probably less than buying a new pack of clean underwear 😅

Useful for sure, and a good way out to get your closet restocked while touring Iceland. The olace is particularly smelly as it’s next to the smoking area of the hostel. The machines seemed simple to operate, though they failed to run the program as you set them (I choose a 20deg program and there was steam coming out when I opened the door when it ended)

Ich hab mir die Maschinen angesehen. Schlecht gewartet und nicht gereinigt. Ungemütliches dunkles Loch. Zuletzt hatte ich bei Myvatn Lakeside Laundromat, Hraunvegur 8, 660 Mývatn, Island. Gleicher Preis aber blitzsauber, topmodern und gemütlich. Hier werde ich wohl nicht waschen - weder eine Anleitung noch Waschmittel (außer überall wo es nicht hingehört) habe ich gesehen.
Und der Ort hier heißt nicht Akureryi sondern Akureyri.

Location and payment app are fine. Still 1400 ISK per wash and 1400 ISK for 60 minutes of drying in May 2025. My clothes were still wet after 60 minutes in the dryer. 20 euros is very expensive, but it seems to be the only option in Akureyri.

The laundromat is located behind the Akureryi Backpackers hostel, in a small shed.

The app is kinda cumbersome and tries to trick you into topping up extra balance. You should just set the “refill limit” to zero.

Call the support number in case you have any troubles.

2 washing + 2 drying machines. However, washers are using very hot water - no matter the setting you put (don’t recommend to wash your delicate clothes here). Additionally, the drying machines are very weak (had to put them three times to dry my clothes). Apart from that, it’s easy to use them - paying is via a digital wallet you need to download. While waiting, you can either hang around in the pub or walk around.

It is one of the only places we could find to do laundry in town. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers. You are able to pay by phone so you do not need cash to use them. It costs almost $20 to do a single load of laundry and if you can wait to do laundry at a campsite that would likely be cheaper. Took around 2ish hours to do one load and everything came out dry and smelling good.

Accessible à tous, même si vous n'êtes pas au Akureyri Backpackers. Machines et dryers nickel. Il faut télécharger une appli mais c'est facile. Par contre quasi 20€ pour du lavage et séchage, c'est pas donné...
