A beautiful apartment smack in the middle of Akureyri. 4 minute walk to the town center and restaurants. Simple street parking near the house. Easy check-in with a key code. The interior has nice design elements and furniture and it feels like a real home. Will stay again!

Too be honest, I am a bit confused by the comments here about AkurInn. We arrived there expecting the worst but found a really good guest house for a reasonable price. Check in was at Hotel Akureyri which is about a five minutes drive from the guest house, it was quick & easy. Staff was really friendly & told us that if we needed help, we could call them any time. The guest house is situated in the town centre close to the harbour & the small football stadium. Our room at the guest house was on the first floor right next to the main entrance. It had a pretty comfortable bed, a table, two chairs, a tv & a private bathroom all of which was very clean. Yes, it was probably not the most modern or high class furniture but it was suitable. The bathroom was rather spacious with a lot of space for our stuff. Since we had private bathroom, I cannot say anything about the shared bathrooms. Yes, we heard people coming in or leaving the house & yes, we heard people using the bathroom nextdoors, but it was not noisy & did not disturb us at all. We heard a ship's horn about twice & we heard some cars, but these are things you have to cope with if you want to stay in the centre of town. There were blinds at the window which were not very dark but worked okay. Breakfast was at the hotel, it offered a wide choice of bread, jam, meat, cheese, eggs, cake, fruit, vegetables, tea, coffee, juices, cereals, yogurt, skyr & milk. There even was a waffle maker. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at AkurInn & would recommend it to anyone looking for good value for money accomodation in Akkureyri.

This guest house has a lovely old-fashioned charm and elegant feel. Very clean including the shared bathrooms. Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and a lovely little communal hospitality area, with wine glasses, extra cups, free tea, coffee and milk, and all of the utensils you would need to eat a takeaway. Very comfortable beds and hanging space for clothes, drawers, shelving, bedside cabinets and TV. Nice little seating areas on each floor. Quiet but very convenient as just two minutes walk from the town centre. An excellent eat-all-you-want buffet breakfast was served at the lovely Hótel Akureyri (same owners), about 8 minutes walk away. There is also a nice bar at this hotel if you wanted to go out for a coffee or a drink in the evening. The staff at Hótel Akureyri were very welcoming and friendly, they could always be contacted if you had any questions or needed anything.

Self-Check-In am späteren Abend funktionierte einwandfrei. Schickes Haus, dass geschmackvoll eingerichtet war. 5 Minuten zu Fuß in die Stadtmitte. Das war klasse. Zimmer, Badezimmer und Flur waren sehr sauber. Praktische Einrichtung des Zimmers (Einzelzimmer) mit Tisch, Hocker, Nachtschränkchen mit Schubladen, großes Bett, Kleiderständer, Spiegel, Fernseher und gut gelegene Steckdosen.||Habe gar kein Personal gesehen, dadurch irgendwie unpersönlich und unheimlich. Badezimmer war klein. Eigentlich konnte man die Dusche nicht benutzen, da es keinen Duschvorhang oder ähnliches gab. Man hat also das ganze Bad unter Wasser gesetzt. Frühstück gibt es nur bei Vorbestellung, und dann, laut E-Mail, auch nur in einem etwas entfernteren Hotel. Wlan funktionierte in meinem Zimmer so lala. Fernseher funktionierte nicht. War mir aber auch nicht so wichtig.

Ho soggiornato per 2 notti in questa guesthouse molto accogliente e dal sapore familiare. Le stanze erano tutte senza bagno, e ogni piano aveva un bagno in comune per 4 stanze, ma la pulizia delle camere era perfetta. Il fiore all'occhiello era pero la cucina comune, molto grande a accogliente. Provvista di tutto offriva gratuitamente caffe, the e succhi di frutta. Ottimo

Das Akurinn ist etwa 5 Gehminuten ausserhalb des Zentrums an etwas erhöhter Lage gelegen. Wie von aussen schon zu erkennen, ist auch innen der Charme einer alten Villa erhalten geblieben. Unser Zimmer war als einziges direkt im Erdgeschoss und als eines der wenigen Zimmer hatten wir ein eigenes WC/Bad.||Das ganze Auftreten des AkurInn und seiner (reizenden) Eigner (ein älteres Paar), erinnerte mich sehr an die Bed and Breakfast-Unterkünfte in Südengland, deshalb fühlte ich mich dort sofort heimisch. Die Betten waren bequem, der mit Parkett ausgelegte Raum sauber und stilvoll, aber spartanisch eingerichtet. Das Bad war das geräumigste während unserer ganzen zweiwöchigen Reise, allerdings roch es dort bisweilen etwas streng (was nicht an uns lag). Der Boden dort war mit Linoleum ausgelegt und das Bad wirkte eher alt, was aber nicht weiter störte.||Im Aufenthaltsraum im ersten Stock hatte man jederzeit Zugang zu gratis Kaffee, Milch und Tee. Das Frühstück musste extra bezahllt werden, war für meinen Geschmack jedoch etwas zu beschränkt. Betrachtet man aber die Tatsache, dass das Ehepaar alles selbst anrichtet, war es absolut in Ordnung. Man hat auch freien Zugang zur Küche, kann dort Esswaren im Kühlschrank lagern und zu bestimmten Zeiten auch selber kochen.||Der Preis für die 3 Übernachtungen war absolut akzeptabel, bezahlen mit Kreditkarte kein Problem. Die Bezahlung wurde gleich bei Ankunft geregelt. ||Das einzige Manko war die Ringhörigkeit des Gebäudes, wahrscheinlich durch das Alter bedingt. Da unser Zimmer nur durch eine dünne Holztür vom Eingangsbereich separiert war, hörten wir alle Geräusche der früh ankommenden und abreisenden Gäste. Am Wochenende war auch das laute Gelächter von einigen Nachtschwärmern, die spät heimkamen gut zu hören, was mich in jener Nacht öfters aufweckte.||Wir können das Guesthaus AkurInn dennoch uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Wer Wert auf ein eigenes Bad/WC legt, sollte dies in der Reservation ausdrücklich erwähnen, ansonsten bekommt man mit grösster Wahrscheinlichkeit ein Zimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad/WC auf dem Flur.

The most beautiful guesthouse! Our room (204) was spacious and decorated beautifully with a gorgeous headboard, comfy beds, a huge wardrobe, a velvet couch and chair, and table. The hallways and bathrooms were also gorgeous (loved the wall paper and carpeting). There was tea and coffee in the room and hallway (also a shelf outside our room with snacks). We had a nice view out our room and the house is steps from the city center. Ample free parking right in front of the house as well, which was convenient for us as we were driving ring road. There isn't really a reception, so it feels as though you are staying the night in someone's house / bed & breakfast. We loved it!

Abbiamo trascorso una notte in questa casetta. Non aspettatevi una reggia, ma per gli standard islandesi, è una gran bella camera ad un prezzo bassissimo. Non abbiamo mai incontrato il gestore, ma è stato super gentile al telefono. Volevamo trascorrere una seconda notte lì, ma purtroppo non c'era più disponibilità. Il gestore ci ha gentilmente trovato un'altra camera a 100 metri di distanza (ancora più vicina al centro) allo stesso prezzo. Credo si trattasse di un'altra guest house gestita sempre da lui. Arriviamo in questa casetta super carina, ma le sorprese non sono finite. Apriamo la porta della nostra stanza e ci attende una super camera con 3 finestre giganti che danno sul centro. Ammetto che forse siamo stati fortunati, ma davvero non potrei trovare una critica alle camere, al gestore e la gestione. Super!!
