We spent a good night in this guesthouse. The hostess Ruth is very friendly and helpfull. We enjoyed how she designed the place. We had a small separate bedroom and we shared the bathroom with others. Besides that there is a well equiped kitchen, and there is wireless internet. She has a lovely dog and she also has a cute puffin as pet. The guesthouse is well located. We will definitely come back here again, during our next visit.

Our room was bright and comfortable with two twins pushed together for my husband and me and a twin for our son.Very effective blackout shades too! Bathroom was nearby and very spacious. Room was decorated in cute puffin decor with nice bedding. Highlight of this guesthouse is proprietor Ruth who goes out of her way to help you. She is an avid birder and when we expressed dismay about not getting to see the puffins because of the rainy and windy weather the previous day, she drove us to a bird nesting area before our ferry the morning we were leaving and pointed out all sorts of birds to us, as well as giving a history of the town/island. Lovely stay.

Much of the new Icelandic accommodation is in simple modern Ikea style so it was good to come across an old fashioned place with its own character. Owner Ruth is very helpful and access to decent cooking facilities is a real bonus if you're trying to save a few Krona on restaurant meals. Not only do I recommend this guesthouse but I also strongly recommend that you stay at least one night on this interesting island.

Débarqués à l'improviste un weekend surchargé par des enfants footballeurs, Ruth est toujours présente pour offrir un gîte à l'islandaise simple et efficace. Bien plaçé à quelques pas du meilleur restaurant de l'île. A chaque fois un moment passé agréable dans cette guesthouse qui remplit complètement sa fonction.||Chambre à deux lits jumeaux avec toilettes et salle de bain communs.

My husband and I arrived at Heimay intending to only stay one night on the island and leave the next day. Unfortunately, a giant storm blew in overnight and we ended up being stranded for another night. We showed up at Ruth's door again and she graciously let us stay with her at the last minute - obviously we were the only people there since the ferry wasn't running that day, so her other guests hadn't made it. Thank you, Ruth, for sheltering us on such short notice!||||Ruth has a great collection of Heimay-centric decor, with large collages of various significant events on the island along with some beautiful and creative photos she's taken over the years. Her passion for her home is very evident, and she is well-connected to the other local business owners so she can make some great suggestions for you. We had a great stay, and I would recommend Hreidrid to anyone visiting Heimay!

Hostel is run by Ruth, nice person and a great nature lover.||She in fact runs two guesthouses on the main street Heidarvegur, leading from the harbour. The first one Hreydrid on the corner with Faxastígur street and Hrafnabjörg in Hásteinsvegur, both sharing the garden.||We lived in Hrafnabjörg and spent two nights there. Nice and clean, comfortably equipped kitchen and dining room with walls decorated with ||photos of birds and other animals, proving Ruth is mad of them (similarly like my wife :-).||We arrived to Heimaey at a very bad, rainy and windy weather and were glad Ruth had a room available. (No tents in the camp observed, fortunately next day it turned surprisingly to a wonderful sunny day :-)||Ruth was ready to give answer on all questions and to give advice where to watch puffins etc...

Arrivés à 6 sans aucune réservation sur cette île extraordinaire sous une pluie battante, entre la fête du volcan et les locations hebdomadaires, une chance de trouver Ruth et son enthousiasme pour une nuit toute simple à l'Islandaise.||Les photos de nature sont partout et le charme désuet.||Sacs de couchage préconisés.||Une guesthouse calme avec une maison entière à notre disposition. 5 chambres. Un espace cuisine pour ceux qui ne veulent pas fréquenter une superbe adresse : LE restaurant sur le port, ancien espace industriel revisité.

If u need basic rooms with good kitchen facilities for self-catering, this is the place to stay. Toilets and showers are shared by fellow guests. Those with interest in all things puffin and nature will find much good advice and information from the hostess Ruth who is very helpful, and passionate about wildlife. The guesthouse dog is a darling too!
