I absolutely loved our stay here. I’m baffled by a few of these reviews that were left, and having dearly appreciated our stay I would like to address them. 1) it is perfectly clean. Yes you are in the country, you may occasionally see a gnat, but the bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless. We checked the very seams of the mattresses- no issues.
2) room size- someone complained they rooms were too small to move around. I have no idea what they meant. We brought all of our luggage in and still had plenty of room to move around. Obviously, this isn’t a huge hotel, it’s a guesthouse, but still larger than other places we’ve stayed. If you couldn’t move around here, I think that was more of a personal problem, and I’m sorry for that. 3) the person who complained about ‘dangerous stairs’ is used to pressing elevator buttons, pure and simple. 4) to the person who complained about why did they get resistance about a late check in- yes, because it’s a guesthouse, not a hotel, and no one wants to hear you clanging your suitcases up the stairs and down the hallway during quiet hours. It’s not all about chu.

This place is quaint, confortable, and clean. The guests respect quiet hours, and the breakfast is AMAZING (to the person complaining about no bacon and eggs, I swear can you stop embarrassing all Americans when you travel please). I think those were the best breakfasts we had in Iceland during our entire stay. We wouldn’t be hungry until 2-3pm afterwards! The hosts are lovely and warm and friendly, the location is gorgeous (Ian, what was your issue with the view?), and even the dog outside was perfect. 100% would recommend and would stay here again. Read the other reviews if you want a good laugh at some whiny people.

Es un lugar acogedor, muy bonito , en un emplazamiento con unas vistas muy bellas. Todo está muy limpio, las camas son cómodas y el trato del anfitrión Torfipór es agradable y detallista. La señora Jmqibjorg Lucia cocina muy bien y el desayuno es excelente. Además confecciona prendas de punto tradicionales muy bonitas que puedes comprar. Muy recomendable.

I would strongly advise against staying at Guesthouse Stekkatun. My experience there was incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable.

The host was unfortunately rude and unwelcoming, making me feel unwelcome throughout my stay.

To make matters worse, I discovered bed bugs in my room, which is absolutely unacceptable for any accommodation. This led to itchy bites and a very unpleasant sleep experience.

Additionally, the view from the guesthouse was not as advertised. The pictures online were misleading, and the actual view was quite underwhelming.

Overall, my stay at Guesthouse Stekkatun was a nightmare. The combination of a rude host, bed bugs, and a misleading view made it one of the worst travel experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.

If you're considering Guesthouse Stekkatun, I urge you to reconsider. My stay there was far from enjoyable.

First and foremost, the rooms are incredibly small and cramped, barely offering enough space to move around comfortably. This made for a claustrophobic and unpleasant experience.

The host's demeanor did little to improve the situation. They were dismissive and unhelpful, showing little interest in ensuring guest satisfaction.

Adding insult to injury, I also encountered issues with cleanliness. The room wasn't properly maintained, and the overall hygiene was questionable.

Given the combination of cramped quarters, an unwelcoming host, and questionable cleanliness, I cannot recommend Guesthouse Stekkatun. There are far better options available in Iceland that will provide a more comfortable and enjoyable stay.

OVERPRICED! Hostel style accommodation. You get a bedroom with shared bathroom and kitchen. Polish worker is very nice. Outside of that, nothing special. Bugs in one of the rooms.

Nettes kleines Guesthaus - sehr guter Zustand, Zimmer sauber und gepflegt, dto. das Bad. Frühstück umfangreich, reichhaltig und ausreichend. Parkplatz mit Ladestationen (3) vorhanden.
Guesthaus liegt ein wenig abseits von der Straße und von größeren Orten, daher sehr ruhig.
Wir waren sehr zufrieden und würden es wieder buchen.

Great location in the area. Service was excellent and amenities for the stay were satisfying. Tasty breakfast and an updated presentation for the shared bathrooms. I will give a however on the rooms. These aren't really "bedrooms". You're sleeping in a box with 3 beds and not much floor to move around. It did have a coat hanger so I guess that was helpful. Beds were comfy but don't expect much in the way of "feels like home away from home". Not many electrical outlets, basically one. But alas, you don't stay here to enjoy the room in an area like this. It's just to move on to the next day.

Clean and quiet. 2 bathrooms for 5 rooms meant very little waiting. Breakfast was good - excellent jam! Man running guesthouse was very polite.
