Nach einer anstrengenden Anreise sind wir endlich am ersten Abend in dieser Unterkunft angekommen. Durch die Haustür sind wir noch rein gekommen. Vor unserer Zimmertur standen wir dann verzweifelt und kamen mit unserem Code nicht rein. Die angegebene Telefonnummer ist nicht vergeben!
Da das Haus extrem hellhörig ist, kam relativ zügig ein Nachbar aus einem anderen Zimmer, der aufgrund unserer Verzweiflung nicht schlafen konnte, und meinte gestern hätte das auch schon nicht geklappt.
Wir haben dann den Vermieter noch mal im booking Chat geschrieben. Nach einer gewissen Weile kam dann eine kurze Antwort, dass der Code erneuert wurde. Keine Stellungnahme, keine Entschuldigung.

Immerhin war die Unterkunft sauber und man konnte direkt vor dem Haus parken.

So stellt man sich seine Begrüßung auf Island nicht vor. Wir können vor dieser Unterkunft nur warnen!

FYI: Hallgrims guesthouse is now called 'Reykjavik Central Guesthouse', which cannot be found on Google maps so far. I would highly recommend the new owner to have it changed on Google 😊 He has, however, done a great job in freshing it up.

We stayed here 1-3 of July 2023, being some of his first guests, I would say there is a lot of potential here and I think he just needs a bit more time to get all the pieces together 👌 Overall clean, safe and quiet, while close to the city center. Improvements: our room lacked a cable to the TV and a trash bin in the room would have "bin" useful 😉

Alojamiento desastroso. La cocina mal equipada. Falta de limpieza en general y el baño al ducharte se convertía en una piscina. Viajábamos en un viaje organizado con la Agencia Tierras Polares y varios alojamientos tuvieron alguna deficiencia pero este se llevó la palma. Lo único bueno la ubicación

During my stay there was reconstruction ongoing so guesthouse does not look good from outside. It's better inside but we had s problem right at the beginning. They offer self check in with lockable boxes so you have to first receive email with code to your box (room). We didn't receive any email so we have to call to owner. When we opened the box there was key from different room. Bad organisation.
Shered kitchen offers basic food but no tea. Stairs to upper floors are steep and narrow. Especially stairs to third floor are nightmare - ceiling is too low and you have to crunch. With a backpack on your shoulders it's not so easy.
Shared bathroom does not look very good and clean. Pipes under sink are moving. Moreover during are stay bathroom on second floor was out of order so everybody was using bathroom on our floor which leads to more noise.
Our room was ok but the floor was little dirty. There was also rubbish in one of the locker. Bed was comfortable and there was also small refrigerator .
But the price was good and location is also fine. However you may have problem with parking near guesthouse as there is main public road and guesthouse has no private parking lot.

Great place to stay in Reykjavik. Very cozy place with shared bathroom and kitchen.It is walking distance to the downtown so is very comfortable.

You have to be aware of the code to take your bedroom key that they will send with your reservation confirmation.

sehr zentral gelegen aber die Sauberkeit lässt zu wünschen übrig! Betten waren bequem. Zimmer sehr sehr klein also mit Gepäck für 2 Leute wurde es eng! Regale o.ä. wären nicht schlecht!

The location is great! Just a couple minutes walk to downtown, it's the perfect place to stay for exploring Reykjavik and Iceland. It's fantastic for the price - you get a small room (warm blanket, pillows, towel, electric kettle, and mini fridge in the room) and then there's a shared bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom is like any other, although the shower is tiny, and the kitchen is well-stocked with everything you could need (you just have to buy the food/oils that you like to cook with). My only complaint is that the floor in my room is a little dirty.

It is cheap and nice place where you can stay in Reykjavík. Close to the city centre and Hallgrímskirkja. There is no reception - before you'll arrive, you have to receive email with code for main entrance as well as for the key of your room. Kitchen is not private and the same case is with bathroom. That's not owner's fault but when I was here, the general reconstruction of upper floor was in progress. Unfortunately perhaps this lead to the bad quality of running water (it had disgusting smell and we had to boil it before drinking). Because of this, the noise was daily order and in case of whole purity our room just looked as clean but floor was dirty full of crumbs. There is cleaning service but only for common kitchen and bathroom within your stay and that's understandable. On the contrary accomodation is well equipped, location is good as well as price! Wifi connection is excellent and you'll got towel, tiny coffee and Reykjavík guides and maps for free!
