We have had a great stay inside the hut. Of course, you can not expect a lot luxury. But this is it not about. It’s about a warm shelter in the middle of nowhere together with great people. Thanks a lot for the great hospitality.

-Yes, water has to be boiled first before it can be used as drinking water. But no problem, there is a huge pot with continuously boiling water.

-Toilet: There is a toilet, but a dry one. So it stinks. It is like it is.

-The kitchen has everything you need. Cutlery, pan, pot etc.

-A little bit less heating in the sleeping rooms would be great, this is the only tiny point which could criticised from my point of view

I visited on 23.8.2024. Unfortunately, I had terrible weather - strong wind, poor visibility, freeze and snow. So instead of camping I decided to stay in the hut. Hut has some basic equipment there is kitchen with basics and gas stoves. Running water also in toilets but no shower. Toilet is only dry despite the running water.
I was sleeping on the first floor on the mattress and there was incredibly hot even the window was opened.
You can buy some sweets and basic things at reception and you can pay by card.
For campers there is shelter available.

Camped at the hut in early August. It can get relatively cold at night (0-3°C) compared to the rest of laugavegur. Also wind can get pretty intense here from what I've heard but I had a calm night. There's also some stone walls for protection from wind. Access to drinking water was great however it is placed in the sanitary facilities. Since there are only latrines every time you went out to get some water it got a bit smelly. There are no showers and you have to take all trash with you to the next hut. For being so 'remote' it has everything you need if the weather goes your way. For context: 15minutes after these pictures were taken you could only see for 40metres because of dense fog.

Staying in the hut: 4 stars. Camping: 2-4 stars depending on the weather and your camping gear.

The ground floor of the hut has traditional bunk beds and upstairs you can sleep on mattresses on the floor. The kitchen is fine and the bathroom is ok, although it's somewhat primitive: there are only 4 basic toilet stalls, no showers. That's understandable considering the off-grid location, but new floorboards might be a good investment. The hut has a few books to read and it's possible to buy some snacks like chocolate at the reception.

The hut has a good toasty drying room for wet boots. Indoor temperature was fine upstairs: it was easy enough to crack a window when it got too warm. The outdoor terrace is great for chilling in the evening (if you have a puffer jacket). You can also see snow buntings hopping on the terrace.

Review is for campsite:
Acceptable site for such a remote location.
Some wind shelter is available, if you arrive early enough.
There is a separate building for campers that serves as a shelter for cooking.
Toilets are in the main building and shared with the hut guests.

Site itself is very exposed, so wind is an issue here.
And snow almost year round on the ground.
I stayed here on the 23.6.2024 and had 50cm Snow on the ground.

Equipped with running water, washrooms and a (soon to be completed, under construction) cooking refuge for campers.

Very cold and wet night on last stop before end of trail (completed South to North). If you can skip this campground, I’d recommend as weather was by far the worst in this section of the entire trail.

Nice place to stay along the Laugavegur trail. If going from north to south, some people push passed this for the next hut (I’d suggest only doing this if you’ve started early.) has toilets and a small amount of food supplies if your early enough. This was the coldest night along the trail and our tent and packs got very dirty because of the ground.

Na pewno najgorszy (najtrudniejszy?) kemping na całym szlaku Laugavegur, ale trudno oczekiwać więcej - przecież leży na przełęczy 1000 m n.p.m. W 2023 roku powstał tu schron dla kempingowiczów - nie wolno w nim spać, ale można przygotować jedzenie bez wiatru, deszczu czy śniegu. Obsydianowe murki wokół namiotów dają ciekawy nastrój, ale jak zerwie się naprwdę mocny wiatr, to namioty i tak są w prawdziwym niebezpieczeństwie. Główna zła rzecz jaka zostaje w pamięci to niestety okropny zapach z toalet... Schronisko dość przestronne, wygodna kuchnia, ale brak jadalni. No i przynajmniej w czasie naszego pobytu w środku naprawdę gorąco. Ale po to jest to schronisko - żeby się ogrzać i wysuszyć - więc trudno narzekać 🙂
