Lovely hotel with character - very big, clean new rooms - our 14 year old boys chose to sleep in the low ceiling loft, rather than the extra bed and pull out sofa. The hotel room had a unique view of the small harbor and area fishing business - Our meal in the memorably non-commercial restaurant was absolutely delicious, made by the owners. Inga the hostess and chef, even agreed to take our rented parkas and boots back to IcelandOutfitters (totally recommend renting appropriate clothes if you travel light or are from warmer countries as the weather here is no joke) - Was a little sad to hear they are ready to retire and putting the whole place on the market soon - hope the new owners will be able to provide such a personal experience.

We and our friends just had a delightful stay at the Hotel Grindavik. Our room was large, immaculate and very nice as was the bathroom. We also had a very tasty and satisfying dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. The owners are very nice. He is an ex ship captain/sailor and she is a quality cook. The hotel and the owners/staff in a three words are charming, original and warm.

Hotel Grindavik was a lovely place to stay when we decided to layover in Reykjavik on our way back from Norway, specifically to visit the nearby Blue Lagoon. The owner, who is very gracious and friendly, was a boat captain for many years and afterwards turned his former boathouse into a restaurant upstairs and guest rooms downstairs. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and we had a view of the harbor from our window. the private bathroom was large and well-appointed...there is a squeegee as that floor may get kind of wet after a shower. It was easy to walk from the hotel along the water until we reached a point where we saw the sea, and it is only a short cab ride to the Blue Lagoon. While we ate breakfast (cold cuts and cheese, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, and breads), the owner told us his history and about some local folk legends - he was very charming and determined that we have a good stay. There are a few options for lodging in Grindavik and by the airport, but we were very taken by this wonderful couple and their earnestness - this will be our go-to hotel if we come back for more Blue Lagoon trips!

We arrived late at night after our reservation was cancelled, without an explanation, by a different hotel in the capital. We were pleasantly surprised to find good people - a kind young lady at the reception and an older gentleman who prepared our room for us while we waited for a bit. It was a last-minute reservation. We were grateful that they provided a clean, cozy place for us to stay.||||The room was spacious for 4 adults with 2 beds and a sofa bed that fit another 2. There was an upstairs loft that could also be used though we didn't use it. I believe you could fit even more people. It was spacious, looking newly renovated, with a very clean, large bathroom. There were enough towels and bathroom supplies for everyone. The water from the shower does get the floor a bit wet, but it's the same with most other bathrooms in the places we stayed. There were black-out curtains to block the midnight sun, which helps a lot. It was pleasantly quiet, located in what looked like a small town with no traffic and it was next to the water. Parking was not an issue since there was plenty of parking within the property.||||The sleeping units are downstairs while upstairs, there is a cute restaurant where they serve free breakfast with the stay starting at 7am. The buffet offerings are coffee, tea, yogurt, juices, deli, cheese, some fruits and other breads and pastries. Though we didn't have time for lunch or dinner, we bought some cake slices which we brought with us to the airport and they were delicious.||||We passed by the Blue Lagoon along the way, so I'd say it's close by and convenient for travel there. It's a good place to get away from the capital. It's also about 18km away from the airport.||||Most importantly, these are the kindest people we met in the country. Most other owners are hands-off and you rarely see/speak to them. These people talked to us, even asked if we slept well and after a stressful night, it means a whole lot.

New hotel, host were very accommodating and friendly. Small hotel with only 5 rooms but rooms are very big like an apartment, safe, new and clean, located in a fishing town. Our daughter turned 13 when we arrive there and the host give us an icelandic birthday wish.

Recommend highly to stay here. Would definitely go back and stay there if we go back to Reykjavik. Only few minutes away from the blue lagoon and close to the airport.

우리는 블루라군과 새벽공항을가기위해 여기를 선택했는데 위치가 우리선택에 너무좋았다. 그리고 객실은 몇개되지않아 붐비지않고 넓고 깨끗했다. 싱글침대2개 더블침대1개로 4명식구 편하게 잤고 조식은 위 레스토랑에서 시리얼과 몇개종류의 빵과 음료, 요거트, 햄, 치즈 그리고 빵에 삶은달걀과 신선한 연어가올라간 오픈샌드위치가 맛있었다. 주인부부는 친절했고 바다와 항구가 인접해있어 더 멋진곳이였다👍👍👍

Lovely little gem right by the sea, huge rooms, perfect for our family with two kids. Upstairs there is a wonderful restaurant with great food and nice view of the harbour, here we also ate breakfast. It was really close to the Blue Lagoon, and only a short ride from the airport Keflavik as well. Really good value for the money! We loved it here and would return any day!

Stayed here one night on way to airport/Blue Lagoon. Large rooms that were very spacious, plenty of parking, small buffet breakfast and friendly proprietor. Bathroom was a bit unusual with wet room style shower so floor did get a bit wet which needed frequent squeegeeing but otherwise no concerns.
