My wife and I stayed at the Saga for part of our honeymoon, and this might be my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at. The room overall was very nice, but the bathroom was just fantastic. The shower and bath were wonderful to use. The aesthetics of the place are also on point. It felt like the coolest place in town to go back to at the end of a long day out. The food was excellent - absolutely take advantage of the breakfast as much as you can! The highlight of our stay was the staff. Many of them appeared quite young, and a couple times when we had questions they couldn't give us immediate answers. But I have not met a hotel staff more eager to accommodate their guests, and they always found ways to help us after they had a minute to work on a solution. Each time we had a need they went above and beyond to help make our stay a truly special one. It says a lot about a place of business that their employees take such obvious pride in their work.

Excellent Stay at Hotel Reykjavík – A True Gem in the Heart of the City

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Reykjavík, and it exceeded my expectations on every level. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and exceptionally accommodating — always ready to assist with a smile and local insight.

The facilities were a major highlight. After long days of sightseeing in the Icelandic chill, we thoroughly enjoyed unwinding in the sauna, steam bath, and jacuzzi. These amenities were immaculately maintained and added a luxurious touch to our stay.

The design of the hotel is sleek, modern, and incredibly clean, creating an atmosphere that feels both upscale and comfortable. Every detail, from the lighting to the room layout, is thoughtfully curated.

A special mention must go to the breakfast – it was absolutely phenomenal. A generous spread of both hot and cold options, fresh produce, Icelandic delicacies, and great coffee made it a perfect start to each day.

The location is unbeatable: conveniently located next to the Icelandic Street Food restaurant (ideal for a casual, tasty bite), and directly across from Bus Stop #2 – The Pond, making excursions via bus tours incredibly simple and stress-free.

In summary, Hotel Reykjavík combines comfort, convenience, and class, all wrapped up with genuinely warm Icelandic hospitality. I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to anyone seeking a refined stay in Reykjavík.

A sleek, comfortable hotel with fantastic service within walking distance of the city center. The staff are kind and thoughtful, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is great. We stayed here both before and after a round-trip cruise out of Reykjavik and were pleased with both stays. If you’re coming from or going to the airport, there is ample storage space for luggage. For the best rooms, ask for the upper floors of the main building at the front of the hotel.

Super friendly hotel. We arrived early and our room was not ready. We had an excursion coming up and they held our bag in the back until we came back. Room was clean, they provide shampoo/body wash and conditioner. We even got an upgrade! I had the incorrect time booked for the flybus back to the airport. Thankfully receptionist, Ása called the company and had everything fixed for us. She was really nice! Complimentary breakfast was really good. Location is convenient and close walk to everything. Walking to Bus terminal is an easy path and only a 13min walk. Would def come back to this hotel for our next Iceland visit.

My wife and I just stayed at this beautiful hotel and were so delighted with the exceptional service and friendliness of the entire staff! Our newly renovated room was immaculate and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was sensational!

Great location, friendly helpful staff, nice spacious rooms. Good buffet breakfast on a large table, so a bit open and crowded. Tv in rooms completely screwed up & needs to be fixed- Icelands great but we need telly! Am I right?

My husband planned a mini getaway for us here and -wow- this place did not disappoint. The location is incredibly convenient. The decor is lovely— clearly inspired by Iceland’s natural beauty. The spa is small but wonderful- there’s a sauna, a steam bath, a foot bath, showers and a relaxation room. The breakfast buffet is LEGIT. I consider myself a tough critic of breakfast buffets and this was definitely one of my top 5. All of the ingredients were high quality which is saying something if you know how challenging it can be to find good produce in Iceland. We stayed on the 5th floor and to room had a balcony overlooking downtown with a view of Esja. Lovely staff too! Highly recommend to anyone passing through or even locals 🙂

This is an excellent hotel. Extremely well located and helpful reception personnel. The breakfast was very good and extensive. The room was large and well appointed with whatever we needed. No complaints.
We were very hot night because we did not realise that ac vents do not mean ACs work! One has to keep the windows open. Even though I set the temp on the ac to 19 we did not get relief as compressors in Iceland are very weak. This needs to be informed to guests at time of check-in. Else how will we know that we should open the windows if the night gets hot even with the AC running at 19 degrees?
