This one-day stopover was not planned for this accommodation, but the roads north were closed and we stayed here. If we were to do the tour around Iceland again, we would definitely stop by this place because it was awesome!
The reception lady (who does everything) is very nice, helpful, patient!!
The rooms and the place is very clean, family friendly. And the breakfast is very tasty and plentiful.
We definitely recommend this place! 🙂

This hotel is marketed as a 3-star hotel, and for me and my aurora hunting buddy Rick it was a perfect place to stay for 5 nights. Right on the N1, and very close to the Studlagil Canyon, it gave us access to the West and East on the ring road, and from there we travelled to the North Coast, including visiting Dettifoss and Asbyrgi, as we toured the area looking for good observing locations for the northern lights. Our preference would have been on the N1 near the Café by the junction with the 901, but the Café and car park lights and lack of a safe parking area nearby on the N1 pushed us to prefer a parking area near Hof on the 85.||Closer to the hotel, a highlight of my whole trip to Iceland was the tour organised by hotel co-owner Hrafndis. This involved a visit to Studlagil Canyon in her 4x4 and a clamber down the icy steel staircase to the viewing platform where we could see the spectacular frozen canyon, including an Aussie in trainers trying to get his drone back! I think he managed it. But it is surely not recommended at all to go down into the frozen Canyon without proper ice gear. Both I and my buddy had crampons. A must for any trip to Iceland’s rural areas in the winter. The tour also took in a local farm and some action on ATVs. Stunning!! Thank you so much Hrafndis. This was a fabulous experience! Despite the freezing rain (who cares about a little cold rain – not me that is for sure!).||The hotel is a great location for touring the area, weather and road conditions permitting.||Back to the hotel, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinners were excellent, the staff discussed the suggested menu beforehand, and the breakfasts were plentiful too, more than we could eat for sure. Suzanna’s soup was exceptional, and Hrafndis spoilt us too.||The hotel was very relaxed, the rooms and ensuites clean and warm, the bed was comfortable.||I miss the place and Hrafndis and Suzanna. Truly exceptional for an adventure type experience. Thank you both so much. If I can, I hope to be back one day.

Die Chefin ist äußerst freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Sie ist darauf bedacht, dass es allen gut geht. Der Speiseraum ist sehr schön eingerichtet. Die Zimmer sind sauber und man hat alles was man braucht. Es ist ein sehr ruhiges und schönes Hotel.
Vielen Dank das wir eine Nacht in eurem Hotel nächtigen durften, obwohl wir eigentlich nur mit unserem Camper auf dem Parkplatz stehen wollten.

We went in the off season, so the restaurant was closed but Hollywood Red graciously made us dinner. The best hotel experience we had in Iceland. The hotel manager Hollywood Red and her daughter Little Red are the nicest and coolest hosts around. Made us dinner since the restaurant was closed, played games with us, made us drinks, watched the northern lights with us. The absolute hostest with the mostest. Breakfast included with the room fee, but it was a good before we hit the road. i will absolutely be staying here when i come back.

We experienced an intense snow storm and were snowed between passes. The hotel was completely full as many were stranded. This staff worked tirelessly for hours throughout the day to ensure as many people as possible were able to be accommodated. They even displaced the staff for more accommodations to be made for stranded tourists. The hospitality shown will never be forgotten. The food was amazing and in such a pinch was very unexpected for the amount of guests they accommodated. We will always make a stop now in Iceland to this hotel, not just to give thanks but to enjoy the wonderful home cooking and hospitality.

We arrived a bit frazzled from just being rescued after almost tipping off a slippery slope and needed a place to recover before continuing our drive. The hotel and restaurant weren't open when we pulled up, as they didn't have guests booked. But when we knocked on the door, they opened up and despite not expecting anyone immediately offered to make us some soup. We felt very welcome and ended up staying the night. The room simple but clean and it was all we needed. In the morning an amazing breakfast was prepared for us to give us all the energy we needed to continue our journey. 100% recommend this warm and welcoming place!

Very friendly staff, a warm welcome for us after a long drive. We were the only guests at the hotel. Nice evening meal and breakfast. ||Helpful when we asked advice on visiting a nearby canyon that was inaccessible due to bad weather conditions. ||Clean and tidy room.
