Lovely hotel in an ideal location. Nice distance from Keflavik and Reykjavik. Loved the Viking theme. I don’t know how they kept the rooms so warm, but even though the temperature outside was chilly, the room was never cold. Really nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Love the Hotel. Beautiful location and great food at the restaurant. We wished we had booked a larger room. Easy access to Reykjavik by short bus ride. Larger tour operators pick up the Hotel Viking. Early May is a bit quiet, and that may suit some. Would return.

When this place is full, I am sure it will be less quiet than when we were there, we could hear people in other rooms. The room was small but clean and usable. It was nice to relax in the hot pool out back, the breakfast was great and they even made us a sandwich to take along the second morning since we had to leave for the airport before breakfast. I would stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay here. As a family of three adults, we stayed in one of the cottages, which was ideal and very comfy and clean with a very good sized bathroom. The decor around the hotel is great and in keeping with the viking name of the hotel with the added bonus of a sauna and hottub for the guests to use which my son used every evening of our 4 night stay. The continental breakfast had everything you needed to start your day including a make your own waffle Station. The location was also fabulous being in the village of Hafnarfjordur just opposite the harbour. It is about 15-20 minutes in a car from Reykjavik and I recommend hiring a car as we found it the best way to get around . There are plenty of places to eat nearby including at least two takeaways. The staff at the viking Hotel were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended a stay here.

Small single room but comfy bed. Needs a fan! Or more access to fresh air. Rooms were non-smoking but I could definitely sense an old cigarette smell lingering in the halls. Worst complaint is the parking - there are 3 spots! There is parking behind the restaurant, but on a busy weekend night you aren’t parking there either. Some type of construction taking place as well which seemed to eat up extra parking spots. Eclectic decor and lots to look at while eating breakfast. Staff was quite welcoming!

Great hotel and feasting hall. Hot tub and sauna were are great way to relax. Breakfasts especially the freshly baked bread and eggs from the chicken were lovely, great selection of fruits, fish, salad, waffles you make yourself, toppings, hot drinks and juices. We'll be back for sure. Staff were amazing and helped you with everything you needed.

Atmospheric. Clean. Lovely. Had a delightful cottage room which was in fact a sweet cabin with 5 beds, lovely bathroom, fridge, kettle. It was warm and clean. Our fault when booking that we didn't say we were all in our 70s and found the ladder to the upstairs beds difficult to negotiate!

We visited the Viking Hotel from 3rd to 7th January 2024. We arrived at the hotel at around 11.30am and were informed check in was at 2pm but could pay for early check in. We decided to explore the area and return at 2pm. The staff were friendly and very informative throughout our stay, especially Oli on reception. The room we were given was very small but clean and the beds were comfortable, I didn’t complain as we didn’t spend much time in the room. The breakfast is served between 7.30 and 10am. It is buffet style and there is plenty of choice to suit all palates, we particularly enjoyed the waffles which you make yourself, and the porridge. If you want to book trips, Reykjavik Excursions will pick you up from your hotel and drop you back off. The bus into the centre of Reykjavik takes around 30 minutes and is frequent, you can pay either cash or use the Klapp app which is easy to use. The area surrounding the hotel is beautiful with shops and short walk away. There is also a lovely local outdoor swimming pool which is really reasonable. The hotel also has a hot tub and sauna, which was lovely to relax in after a day exploring. I would totally recommend this hotel and would return if I visit Iceland again.
