We stayed for 5 nights at the Iceland Parliament Hotel, in a Junior Suite, as a trip to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday. The hotel has a lot to recommend it and we had a very enjoyable stay overall.||The location is excellent - very central for the downtown Reyjavik area and easy walking distance to the harbour, to landmark tourist attractions such as the Hallgrimskirkja, and to a huge variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Also very central for the numbered bus stops where organised tours pick up and drop off - the hotel is very easy walking distance from stops 1, 2 and 3.||It's a beautiful hotel and the junior suite we booked was a lovely room, with lots of space, a large bed, a nice sitting area and a large and well-appointed ensuite. The staff were friendly and helpful at every interaction and were kind enough to leave a complimentary selection of petit fours and a card wishing my husband a happy birthday in our room on our arrival. The breakfasts in the on-site restaurant were excellent - an expansive cold buffet selection, a smaller hot buffet offering (basically sausages, scrambled eggs and beans) and a very nice a la carte offering included, with the a la carte menu including omelettes, pancakes, eggs benedict, congee, vegetable gyoza etc. The spa facilities (access included when booking a junior suite) were very enjoyable and relaxing (but the spa floors are VERY slippery when exiting the hot pool or rain mist room - I nearly fell a couple of times and my husband did slip and fall).||Our only real issues with our stay were:||A minor niggle but in our corner junior suite (room 340) the clear glass top windows of the ensuite bathroom were overlooked by the upper floors of a nearby building... which felt very exposed when e.g. getting in and out of the shower!||The noise. The majority of our stay was relaxed and peaceful but our final night was a Saturday night and we had an early flight out with a taxi pick-up at 4:30am. And the American Bar, right beside the hotel on the adjoining corner of the square, had music blasting - and guests chatting and shouting and laughing in the outside seating area - until 4am! The noise was inescapable in our bedroom and ensuite and really made getting any sleep difficult. When I stepped outside after checking out shortly before 4am the noise was astonishing - it echoed and reverberated off the buildings surrounding the square and was horribly loud. We did mention the noise to the receptionist when we checked out and she basically shrugged and said it's weekend in downtown Reyjavik and said that if we had mentioned it to reception earlier they could have moved us to a different room or offered earplugs - not really a logistical option when he had to have alarms set for an early wake-up.||Other than that our stay was very enjoyable. The hotel has a lot to recommend it - just be wary if your stay extends over a weekend and you are in a room facing onto the square!

This Hilton property is in a great location and is very nice with wonderful service. Check-in was fast and efficient. Great breakfast….the residents lounge was stunning (that open air terrace) and the drink at the lobby bar was a nice touch. The spa looked delightful but we didn’t have time to enjoy. I’m a Hilton Diamond and used points and supposedly was upgraded to a twin deluxe. I say supposedly as while the room itself was lovely and spacious and the beds were super comfortable, the room was dark with only a minuscule window that opened and we looked directly into another wing of the hotel. It also was hot and very dry….even with the window open. Breakfast was plentiful. The hotel staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a short walk from several of the Flybus stops.

Very clean hotel in the center of Reykavik only 10 minutes by taxi from the Viking cruise ship dock. They say you can not enter from the street but it is only about 1/2 block on flat surface from your taxi and I am disabled. A two minute walk from bus terminal one. Many elevators. Our room 702 was large and clean with some views. Very comfortable. An umbrella was in the closet which we used while there. We did not get a chance to try their spa or hot tub but I will include pictures. I asked for early check in as we had been up very early traveling and they happily accommodated us. The buffet breakfast was wonder with made to order selections like eggs Benedict and they even had sparking alcohol for breakfast. The criticism I had was the 5 th floor club not staffed or supplied like other Hilton brands so we had a wine in the lobby which they supplied to us as Diamond members all the staff was great. Very nice young man with Briwn hair and glasses Checked us in when we arrived unfortunatelyi can find his name.

For the sake of simplicity, I will list out all the moments Iceland Parliament Hotel missed the mark and did not provide the level of service and professionalism expected by a Hilton Curio Collection hotel:

• Reception staff did not look up and greet us as we approached them. We had to tell them “checking in” before they helped us. The reception lady was also rude and unfriendly as we checked in. We later found out she isn’t even part of Hilton or Parliament Hotel, she was brought in from a different hotel chain because the normal reception desk staff called out sick.

• Reception staff did not realize we were Diamond Members. They provided us with a Gold Member information sheet and told us to “just read it” instead of explaining what we can expect as Diamond members — they forgot to give us our Welcome Drink, they forgot to mention we have access to their Executive Lounge on the fifth floor, they forgot to assign the correct room key with spa and lounge access, and they gave us a room with broken toiletries in the shower

• During Complimentary breakfast, the waiter touched the food we had ordered with his fingers to move the food around the plate

• We requested late check out at 12:30pm and the reception staff confirmed this was okay. At 11:30am, the Assistant Manager knocked on our hotel room and said “check out was at 11:00am”. I had to tell him the reception desk told us 12:30pm check out was confirmed. This was the same Assistant Manager I had spoken to regarding the poor service by the reception staff, so the see him again at 11:30am telling us check out was 11:00am really left a bad impression and memory of this place.

We purposefully chose this hotel to end our stay in Iceland after traveling Ring Road for the week prior. Usually, Diamond Members are met with exceptional service and consideration. We received very little during our stay. Instead, we felt poorly treated by reception with very little effort by management to make things right.

To conclude, we will not be coming back to Parliament Hotel ever again. The lack of professionalism, communication, and service was disappointing for a Hilton Curio Collection.

We had a wonderful two night stay prior to boarding our cruise. Upgraded to a corner suite, which was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable. Lobby bar has some very good cocktails a bit pricey, but that comes with being in Iceland. Would definitely recommend 10/10.

Best breakfast - we loved it! The room was clean and spacious. The gym was in excellent shape, front desk was helpful. The only note I have is parking was a bit of a cluster, drop your bags off when you arrive to avoid having to haul around.

Had a great 3 night stay in April. Fantastic location to walk around and explore the centre of Reykjavik. Close proximity to bus stop for travel to/from airport and for excursion pick ups.
We arrived at 9am as we had an early flight and planned to drop bags off but were pleasantly surprised to be able to check in. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was plentiful and staff were very friendly. We also used the spa which was very relaxing. Would definitely consider returning!

Located in the "old town" section, this is an excellent hotel, allowing you to walk wherever you need to go. Surrounded by a variety of restaurants and bars, there is no need for a taxi or car to get where you want to be. The room we chose was a "king junior suite," which was comfortably large with a terrific bathroom and the best shower we enjoyed anywhere on this trip. Advice: do not select room 319 -- you will get a view of a wall through your window, rather than the delightful town square.
