I wanted to provide a higher rating as the building is beautiful and the room was huge.

However, I need to be fair to other potential travellers.

We only stayed for one night, therefore these issues weren't really a problem for us as we literally arrived at 9:30pm and we're gone the following morning.

We were only given four beds for five people. The room was unbearably hot, I didn't sleep well.

The toilet moved when someone sat on it and the bath area was not very clean, the mirror near the bath was filthy.

The kitchen area looked and smelt grubby. The dining chairs we used bent backwards as we sat down, so we changed chairs.

When we were leaving, the ceiling near the front door suddenly developed a leak and poured over my son. We still have no idea what this was and left straight after.

It's a shame as this place has so much potential but looks as though it has not been maintained properly for quite some time.

Nice and warm. Lots of space to sit around. It was very relaxing for me and don't forget to bring a frisbee. There is an urban forest and birds chirping even in winter. Less than 2 km to a little shopping centre. Wish I could have stayed longer, many thanks!

Do not stay at this place, especially if you are woman travelling alone. Nobody works here, and the back door that leads to the alley is unlocked, You just walk in. The stairs have no railings, The bedroom door was broken and does not lock properly. There are piles and piles ( like 5 ft high) of garbage around the place. The shared toilet was broken, and ran all night so very loud. Buckets on the floor to collect leaking roof water. Not okay.

In the least pleasant part of Reykjavik (one has to invest some effort in order to locate it, as most parts of the city are pleasant), there lies a ruin. Not a ruin in a Viking sense, but a ruin by modern people, where sacks of concrete, loose electrical cables and crying babies from a nearby flat allow no peace of mind to the unfortunate traveler who happened to book a room there. This place is the Reykjavik Peace Center, and I’ll revisit the name in a bit. The place is an absolute dump, with small rooms, loud noises from nearby apartments and some ongoing reconstruction work (?). Now here’s to the important part: If an Iceland-related guesthouse you hoped for — not here! The place is littered with photos of Israeli-Palestinian-related conflict with a clear bias. Surely, “peace” is not the theme here, and that disregarding the fact that it is something which has no contextual belonging or place in a hotel in the effing capital of Iceland!

Now, I do not know who in god’s name awarded this dump a score of 7.5 in booking, but I am pretty sure it wasn’t achieved through aesthetics and comfort.

Do yourself and your hard-earned vacation in Iceland a favor and STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

The place was in complete renovation, garbage everywhere, loud indoor construction noise right next to our room all day. No one let us know that there was construction nor did they even show us where the bathrooms and shower (ours where out of service)

My room was small and the window too, it felt a little bit like a bunker, but really I was there only when sleeping, because the common areas were so cozy with sofas, the loft with big floor area invited to have some yoga and dancing. It was quiet and nice.

Our room was pleasant and warm with comfortable beds. Everything was very clean. The shower was good and the kitchen well enough equipped. There were plenty of comfy seating areas so although it was quite busy it didn't feel overcrowded. The caretaker and his wife were very welcoming and were busy cleaning every day - they were also very prompt at answering any questions and helping with a few slight problems that arose. Communication before we arrived was good and access was easy with a keycode provided. Would definitely stay again.

HORRIBLE PLACE! PLEASE AVOID!||HORRIBLE PLACE! The main entrance door to this center would not open and had to be kicked from inside to open. While trying to enter from outside, we had to bang on the door and side window before someone opened it from inside. Extremely scary when you are with family and arrive late Bathrooms were unclean and filthy, used soap provided. Dustbins overflowing with thrash. Water in the taps had sulphur smell. Kitchen was unclean and dirty. Horrible, worst experience.
