My complete review on on tripadvisor. We did 2 tours and had problems with both tours. This review is about the northern lights tour where we felt unsafe.

My family and I went to Iceland, we were 10 people total. We wanted a tour to the Southern and for the Northern Lights.

For the northern lights tour we got picked up and the driver does not really speak English. We at first did not think it was a problem. We sat there for a min then he asked us where the guide was. We told him we did not have one as we were not told we needed one. He informed us he had never been out without a guide and it was his 1st time driving that particular van. We tried calling Snaeland and no one answered. He told us he would drive us wherever we had him for 4 hours. We are not from Iceland we have and we had no idea where to go to see the northern lights. We all then got on our phones and tried to look up where to go. Again a little communication from Snaeland could have avoided this situation. If they had said if you do not have a guide you need to know where you want the driver to take you we would have come prepared or paid for a guide. We set off to a destination we found from a suggestion on facebook. We went there is was very cold and windy that night and that location had too much light. We ended up asking a different tour group for help and that company was super nice and gave us some recommendations. We went to the next place wandered off stared at the sky for 20 minutes and called it quits. We had no idea what were doing, if we were in the right place or not and it was extremely windy and freezing. We got back in and told our driver to take us back. He seemed surprised as we had only been gone a little over an hour. It was late and we just wanted to go home.

When we got in the van to go back it started making a high pitched beeping noise. The driver tried to figure out what the problem was. He could not. We asked him to call someone at Snaeland who might know and he would not. He started driving. We asked him to stop. We tried calling Snaeland, no answer. We did not know why the car was beeping, was it the door, gas, a mechanical issue, we did not know but we felt very unsafe as it was cold, dark, super windy and we were about an hour from our hotel. When he started driving we asked him to pull over, to stop the car turn it off and back on, try calling someone again. He ignored or did not understand what we were asking so just continued to drive. For a little over an hour we listened to the constant beeping and nervousness for our drive home. We did get back safely and the beeping never stopped the entire car ride.

I contacted Snaeland to tell them about all of this they said they would look into it and never got back to me. I have reached out repeatedly about how unsafe we felt on the 2nd night. I gave up on getting a refund or even an apology. I could forgive everything from the southern trip to poor communication but the night of the northern lights was an absolute disaster. If you choose to use this company I would say maybe stick to the trips that they have on the website and don't do a private tour.

Ich habe über Troll Tours eine Gruppentour für mich alleine gebucht. Vor Ort wurde dies mit Snæland Travel durchgeführt. Es war wirklich alles perfekt, der Kleinbus mit insgesamt 14Personen war sauber und komfortabel. Unser Busfahrer u.Reiseleiter in einem Namens Peter war top. Er ist ein sehr sicherer Fahrer und hat uns durch alle Wetterkapriolen von Station zu Station gebracht. Ich habe diese Reise sehr genossen und würde jederzeit wieder mit Snæland Travel u.Peter Island erkunden. Daumen hoch und danke!

This bus tour was arranged for us through secret escapes. Our driver was Einar and our guide was Elert. Einar had a very kind face and demeanour. Elert was never bored of telling us about the histories, geography, legends and contemporary news about Iceland. He had a very British sense of humour! They were both very punctual. It was a lot of fun hunting northern lights with them at Selfoss.

Very friendly travel organization. Not only selling vacations but also very helpfull during our stay in Iceland. We're traveling during winter time (April) We had some questions during our trip and all questions were answerd on a very friendly and informative manner.

We had arranged a transfer from the cruise port to Keflavik airport and they were on time. With a quick call they were able to add a short tour of interesting natural areas on the way. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable. It was worth it to us. We would use them again.

Excellent service
My sister and I traveled to Iceland in beginning on December and since we don’t have experience in driving in icy snow covered roads we decided to book a Private vehicle with English speaking driver guide for 5 days, and we were very lucky with our guide Mrs Lena she is a wonderful experienced guide passionate about her work, During these 5 days she took us to many sightseeing places in Iceland and she give us lots of information and tips, she is an excellent guide who really took care of us.

We are 4th Midland Scouting from Canada. One of our youth left his phone on the bus. The parent of the youth was able to get a hold of the company and track it down. One of the staff members offered to drop if off as she drove by our accommodations on her way home. Absolutely great service all around!
