We only stayed here for one night on our trip around Iceland. We had an easy self check in and nice spot to park our van. Our room as spacious and clean. It was very comfortable and nice bed linens and bath towels. We had access to a teapot and tea, which was very nice. Our view was great and we had a short walk to restaurants for dinner and breakfast the next morning.

The room was bigger than in most of the hotels I stayed in in Iceland. It was clean with lovely decorations to give it a personal touch and a private bath with a good shower. I usually stay in hotels and was pleasantly surprised. The place was easy to find, no problems with check-in. Breakfast was not included but I had a great breakfast at the Aldan Hotel next door.

This establishment is disappointing. There is no reception, no breakfast, poor level of finish and decoration and very basic communal area with coffee/kettle. The building looks lovely on the outside, but the accommodation lacks any class. It is basic and reasonably comfortable. Bathroom ok. The 'decorations' consist of empty booze bottles and fall sadly short of what could have been done with the old apothecary theme. The price on the other hand is rich. We expected better. Having said that, it is very well located right at the bridge in the middle of one of the most incredibly beautiful small towns in Iceland.

We found this to be a pleasant and satisfactory place to spend a night in the charming village of Seydisfjordur. It's not a hotel in the traditional sense -- no reception desk or room service etc. It's a self-catering thing. You get your key from the combination lockbox by the front door (having been given the combination in advance by the management), let yourself in, and you're on your own. Put the key back into the box when you leave -- no checkout formalities. We never saw or had any contact with any staff person during our stay, which was fine by us. We tend to be self-sufficient travelers. The bedrooms are large by Icelandic standards, and include a bathroom. All spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Location is convenient and attractive, right by the stream. For those of us who like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing that we like. For those who need to be taken care of, it might not be.||||If you saw the excellent Icelandic mystery series "Trapped" (available on Netflix), some of it was filmed in Seydisfjordur (but most was filmed in Siglufjordur, another lovely fishing village.)

This was the second best place we stayed in Iceland. The setting was lovely, nestled in the valley by the fjord with lovely views of the river and the picturesque town. The rooms were very comfortable and there was a useful living area with kettle etc for the use of guests.

We booked 2 rooms for one night, mainly because this accommodation offered private bathroom facilities. Well the beds were comfortable and we had our own showers but apart from that we paid a big price for few facilities. It was entirely self service with keys obtained from a locked combination box and there was no reception at all. Rooms in this old building were large but sparcely furnished. Wifi failed to work on our Australian phone. Permanent residents who occupied rooms at one end of the building and upstairs were disruptive and could be heard moving around during the night. The couple who booked the third room made a terrible noise talking loudly while thumping along the hallway passing our doors at 1:00am to add to the disturbances and wake us again. So overall it was just somewhere to sleep for the night while getting the impression we tourists were being extorted again with overpriced but basic facilities. Somewhat disappointing to be sure.

The Old Apothecary is in a nice location in a quaint little town. I was a little disappointed in the lack of attention to detail. Over the past two weeks we spent nights in similar guesthouses and each of them offered more amenitites. The room itself was nice and spacious but at the Old Apothecary there was no breakfast provided, no shampoo or soap, and no blowdryer in the room. We found the common area with a couch and coffee kettle to smell musty. It worked for our one night stay but was not up to the standards we found at other guesthouses. SInce there was no check in, we never met anyone during our stay that could help us with restaurants or places to visit.

My boyfriend and I mostly camped during our road trip, but on our way from Myvatn, it started snowing and we needed a place to sleep. The owner noticed I had parked on their lot, and helped us right away. The room was clean, comfy and had an amazing view. Seyðisfjörður was one of my favourite stops during our trip. Everyone I met was friendly and very helpful. I can't wait for when I return.
