We originally planned to stay here for two nights before taking the ferry out to the Westman Islands. However, due to some exceptional wind our ferry ride and excursions out on the island were cancelled leaving us in the lurch for a place to stay. Katrin was so accommodating and worked with us to allow us to stay one more night. We truly can't say enough about this cottage and location. It was quiet, clean, comfortable and in a beautiful location. We were about 20 minutes from Skogafoss and the Skogar museum. Only about 45 minutes from the Black Sand Beach. Great place only next door at Skalakot for a fantastic dinner. If we ever make it back to Iceland we will absolutely stay here again!!!

Fantastic location with all the amenities that you need. Very comfortable and clean. Super hosts who were very attentive and showed the farm and vintage machinery. Very informative. Highly recommend!

We very much enjoyed our stay.||||The hostess was really friendly! The cottage was located in a farm with cowshed so we went to her in the morning and wondering if we could buy some fresh milk. She invited us to her house and gave us cups of milk and also pie to try for free. We were told that the cottages was built by her father who lives in another house in this farm. Both of her dogs are really friendly, especially the older one who was always asking as to pet him. We were also told that the farm next door belongs to her brother and they do have horses for ride. We did end up going there and had lots of fun there too.||||The cottage itself is very cool looking and have space for at least 6 people. The kitchen was fulled equipped so we did cook our own dinner. It was raining out side so we didn't end up using the hot tub but there was a instruction in the cottage clearly stating how to use it. They are also doing milking in the morning from around 6:30 to 8 and open for visit, we went a bit late but it was still a very cool experience for us.||||There was also a small white church with red roof on site, like the ones you could always see in the picture. Very interesting to look at and good for pictures.||||Couple things that made me reduce 1 star from the review:||||- The shower water temperature is very unstable, It would move from "very hot" to "freezing cold" in a 10 sec period and never stays there no matter how you adjust it, which made it very hard to take a good shower.||||- The twin bed in one of rooms on the first floor was very soft with no back support at all. Two of my friends chose to sleep on the floor of the attic in stead. I chose not to, but my back did hurts after one night sleep.

The previous reviews nail all the shortcomeings pretty well. But none of it mattered to us. After a long day hiking the glacier, this chjarming cottage was perfect. Yes, the rooms are cramped. But it didn't matter. We were there to sleep. We used the hot tub, which definitely needs you to add cold water when filling. The family dog adopted us for our stay. The hike behid the cottage is a trat, and if you are adventurous, you will find the waterfall back there too! Highly recommended with a large group.

The location of the cottages is great. Very peaceful but just 5 minutes from route 1, 20 minutes from Westmann ferry, 30 minutes from Vik, 10 minutes from volcano visitors centre and 2 hours from Reykjavik . It is just in front of a beautiful small gorge . The bedrooms are small and have no storage space at all (2 hooks, that's it) , the lounge was big but the furniture tired , sagging sofa , broken shower doors . As mentioned by another reviewer, the hostess was quick to ask for payment and not overly welcoming . If you want a good location, this will give you a couple of peaceful nights sleep, but don't expect luxury!

This cute little cottage/log cabin is set in a gorgeous nature setting with a cool little trail for hiking when the weather is nice. It was a comfortable enough place for the night, but the creaky wood floor woke me up every time someone in the family got up to use the bathroom at night. There was an outdoor hot tub, but it was empty when we arrived. Our luggage had been left in London, so we didn't have suits anyways. The proprietor was friendly enough, but we didn't have much interaction with her other than to "pay the bill" upon our arrival.

Beautiful setting on the South Coast, quiet, surrounded by fields, birds, horses, with a backdrop of mountains and waterfall. The cottage is clean and very well equipped and the hot tub is a great addition. We stayed for one night then booked again on the way back, and the price we got was much better than booking.com. Better call and ask directly 🙂
